Admissions to schools

The Admission Number at West Leigh is 45.  This means that a maximum of 45 children are admitted into our two reception classes each September.  You are welcome to make an appointment to view the school. 

Admissions are administered by the local authority and places should be requested  from North Somerset Council Admissions Team. The School Admissions Team is responsible for the allocation of places to all North Somerset Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools. They work closely with schools to help parents who are applying for school places for their children at any time during their education. The main stages of applying for a school place are:

·         Reception Intake – when children start school for the first time (in the school year in which they become 5 years old)

·         Transfer to Junior School – when children move from an Infant or First school to a Junior School

·         Transfer to Secondary School – when pupils move from the Primary/Junior stage to a Secondary School

·         In-Year – when parents who wish to change their child’s school at any other time, for example because of a house move                       

The School Admissions Team also considers applications for Free School Meals
